A house on a lovely quiet cove

We had a great time on Deer Isle, and had a nice stay at this house. The weather and tides weren't in our favor to be able to take the kayaks out, but we did get a chance to sit by the water and watch the water and the birds, which was very nice. The house had all the amenities we needed, with a decently stocked kitchen and gas grill on the deck, and enjoyed hanging out on the sun porch. Part of our visit was to visit Acadia, and the house/Deer Isle in general is a bit farther from Bar Harbor / Mount Desert Island than we wanted to travel every day, but Deer Isle had some nice coves to explore as well (including the one at the house). Chelsea and Brenda at Blue Hill Bay Property were also very responsive in checking and keeping us updated throughout the visit.

Hi Allison, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad you enjoyed your stay even though the weather didn't cooperate. We'd be pleased to host you again should you return to the area in the future. Our best, Chelsea and Brenda

Stars and solitude...

We had never seen the Milky Way quite like we saw it here! Deer Isle struck us as true Maine, and this house was the perfect, rustic place to experience it. We kayaked when the tide was in, dug for clams when it was out. While at the house, it is exceptionally quiet and peaceful, yet you are close to two towns and more lobster than you can shake a stick at. Deer Isle is not touristy at all (OK, maybe just a tiny bit). The closest village is actually Stonington which is where you want to be to visit Isle au Haut or take boat rides (we took one where we bought four lobsters straight from the lobsterman in the middle of the bay and tasted fresh raw scallops from another boat in the bay). If you like lighthouses, this is the place to be too. Our two weeks went by so fast - we hope to be back! The property managers were super responsive to the one small issue we had - it's good to know there's someone there for you.

We enjoyed our stay and would rent again.

Deer Isle is a special place and this cottage is in a perfect location especially if you like to kayak. It is very private and the view is amazing. We were content to do nothing but watch the tide change. The cottage is a vintage gem with a big well equipped kitchen, large living room, a screen room and an updated bathroom. Everything was clean and items were thoughtfully provided. Check in was easy. The house gets warm during the day but they had lots of fans and it cools off at night with lovely coastal breezes. If you want to kayak - this is the place but pay attention to the tides as the cove empties out at low tide. We enjoyed our stay and would rent it again.
