At the Water's Edge, this small, gray-shingled cottage perches beside Wells Cove, a tidal inlet located in Brooklin just off the historic sailing lanes of Eggemoggin Reach, a wide passage connecting Penobscot Bay to Blue Hill Bay at the entrance to downeast Maine.  When the tide is high guests feel afloat in a nicely-crafted boat, enjoying water views from every window.  Providing the classic Maine experience, guests enjoy kayaking, swimming, tidepooling and picnics with easy access to its child - friendly, shared beach. Tastefully updated, the open living, dining, and kitchen areas are sheltered by a cathedral ceiling with warm inviting shades throughout.  A short hallway leads to the bathroom (with shower) and two bedrooms include a queen and a twin bed.  The bright and airy loft has a pull-out double bed accessed by sturdy ladder stairs, allowing for a total of 5 people to sleep.

Bayberry shares the small peninsula with its sister cottage - Jennifer's.  Situated to provide privacy for each cottage, both can be rented together to sleep up to 9 guests.  The parking area and beach are shared.  Enjoy outdoor meals at the picnic table or relax in comfortable chairs and enjoy the view.  Bayberry is a beloved cottage that welcomes new and returning guests each season.  Your well-mannered dog is welcome with a signed pet agreement and additional fee.  A bonded DSL 10 MB phone line provides reliable wifi and internet access.

From Blue Hill village drive up Tenney Hill (Route 172) into the round-a-bout.  Take the third exit onto South Street, Route 172-S and Route 175-S.   You will see Tradewinds Marketplace on your right.  This is the last grocery store you'll go by before arriving at your rental.  After 2.5 miles, turn left onto Route 176.  Drive 9.3 miles to Brooklin Village.  Drive past the Brooklin General Store, staying on Route 175, which is also now the Reach Road, and drive 1.3 miles.  You will see a small sign "Evergreen Farm" on the right.  Just past this sign you will turn left onto Bayberry Point Lane.   Drive  0.1 miles all the way to the end of the road.  You will see Bayberry Cottage on your right.   Park in front of the cottage.   There is also a small parking area on the right just before you get to Bayberry's front lawn.  The land to the left of the driveway belongs to a neighbor and cannot be used to park or turn around on and can also be wet, allowing for ruts.  There are markers to indicate the neighbors land.  Landline:  207-359-8748

We couldn't have been more pleased...

We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at Bayberry Cottage. The photos don't do it justice. The place is right on the water and the views (and sounds) of the tides coming in and out are magical. Brenda and Chelsea are great communicators. They were always one step ahead, very friendly and accommodating. We had everything we needed and more. I hope to come back again!

An amazing experience and beyond

The cove is like a constantly changing painting as the tide, weather and daylight shifts! So beautiful. This was our first time in Maine and this location gave us everything we could have hoped for and more. It was especially fun to kayak from the house. Chelsea and Brenda were incredibly helpful. They ended up taking our clothes to a laundromat and returning them because the wash was unexpectedly broken and we were out of clean clothes. It was really nice to know they would help out when things came up. I'm very grateful

Thank you for your kind words! You and Armard (and Clover) were wonderful guests and we're so glad you had a good stay. We appreciate that you took such good care of Bayberry and would be more than happy to host you again should you return to the area in the future. Our best, Chelsea and Brenda

Coastal Maine perfection

We stayed at the Bayberry cottage in mid-September and it was absolutely perfect. The location is lovely, the great folks at Blue Hill Bay Property Rentals pointed us to The Activity Shop for kayak rentals, and our little pup had the the time of his life along with us.

Hi! Thanks so much for your nice review. We're so happy to hear that you all had a great time. Thanks also for taking such good and careful care of the cottage. Our best to you all, Brenda and Chelsa

A slice of heaven...

Unbeatable location. Private and peaceful. Stunning water views from every window in the cottage. We loved watching the tides come and go, kayaking at high tide, and at low tide we loved exploring the beach with our 2 year old. Our dog was in heaven. It’s a nice walk down the dirt road too, we did that at least a couple times a day. The cottage itself is small and cozy, tastefully decorated, and met all our needs. The kitchen is surprisingly well-equipped for its modest size. We loved the breakfast nook table with its panoramic views of the cove. The deck is very small, but there is plenty of space outside to relax. The fireplace was nice to use on a rainy night. Firewood is provided by the hosts too which is a bonus. Be sure to call the Activity Shop for a weekly kayak rental; great, friendly service and they drop off and pickup for free. We were sad to leave Bayberry Point and hope to return and potentially rent both properties with some family or friends. It’s truly a slice of heaven!
